At the centre of this pendant is an exceptional 38.79 ct Paraíba tourmaline from Mozambique, cut as an elongated briolette and measuring 28 × 20 × 10 mm.
The briolette cut allows the gemstone to be seen from every side. Its faceted surface catches the light with movement, while the absence of a conventional setting leaves the remarkable blue-green colour and scale of the Paraíba largely uninterrupted.
A 1.65 ct brilliant-cut diamond, measuring 6.8 mm, provides a precise counterpoint above the tourmaline. The pendant is constructed in 950 platinum, with a total weight of 9.90 g.
Here, the design is deliberately secondary to the stone: 38.79 carats of Paraíba tourmaline, given space to move and to be seen.
Crafted with the gemstone expertise of the LEYSER atelier in Idar-Oberstein.
