At LEYSER, jewellery rarely begins with a drawing.
It begins with a gemstone — its colour, cut, proportions and individual character.
From there, the design develops around the stone. Gold, platinum and diamonds provide structure, balance and contrast, while the gemstone remains at the centre.
For thirteen generations, the Leyser family has worked with gemstones in Idar-Oberstein — selecting, cutting and transforming them into objects of beauty.
Some pieces begin with an exceptional stone. Others with a client, a particular colour, an occasion or simply an idea.
The process is personal, considered and individual.

Thomas Leyser has spent his life among exceptional coloured gemstones and today runs the LEYSER atelier in Idar-Oberstein.
As the house’s principal designer, his approach is instinctively gemstone-led: understanding what makes a stone exceptional, then creating around it.
Thomas works alongside the next generation of the Leyser family and specialist cutters, goldsmiths and artisans in Idar-Oberstein.
The atelier has always been a place of exchange — between designers, gemstone cutters, engravers and goldsmiths, with skills and ideas passing from one generation to the next.
Whether conceived within the atelier or developed together with a client, every creation shares the same starting point:
the stone itself.
