We are honoured to present an exceptional Santa Maria aquamarine with a story that spans more than a century. Our great-grandfather Otto Leyser discovered this rare crystal at the Santa Maria mine in Brazil around 1895. Even in its rough form, the stone showed a remarkable deep blue colour.
After its discovery, the aquamarine was brought to our lapidary workshop in Idar-Oberstein. There, it was cut and polished with great precision. The craftsmanship was so outstanding that the gemstone won a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937.
Many decades later, this historic stone returned to our atelier for a bespoke re-design. It was a special moment for our family — a gemstone found by an ancestor, shaped in our workshop, awarded internationally, and now reimagined once again.
